A team of ICTAF researchers - Dr. Yair Sharan, Dr. Tal Soffer and Dr. Aharon Hauptman - is taking part in an inernational conference that will signal the end of project FESTOS. The project aims to identify and uncover future technological threats and preparing policy guidelines that will aid in dealing with those threats.

Technology Foresight and Assessment

ICTAF is specializing in scanning the techno-scientific horizon in diverse fields, such as Nanotechnology, Cognition, Materials, Communication and Converging Technologies. Projects in this area include experts surveys and in-depth interviews, workshops, literature reviews, and combining data from different sources in order to identify the leading trends and develop future scenarios.

Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development

The combined coping with energy and environment issues is one of the greatest challenges that face the human kind in the dawn of the 21st century. ICTAF is focusing on several aspects of this challenge, such as assessing future energy demand, exploring technology trends in energy and the environment, and policy issues regarding energy efficiency, sustainability, etc.

Every technological revolution in the history caused dramatic changes in the structure of society, the distribution of wealth, and the perceptions of individuals about themselves and their surroundings.  In various projects in this areas ICTAF is trying to assess the effects of new technologies on the society.
